I finally paid $200 for a proper online course on SQL and it got me a raise in 3 months
Spent that cash on a structured SQL course from Coursera after messing with free YouTube tutorials for a year and my boss noticed my queries were way faster so they bumped my pay by $5k, anyone else find that paying for a class actually works better than free stuff?

You ever try those free tutorials and just end up watching someone type for hours without actually learning? I did the same thing with Python, paid for a course on Udemy, and finally started getting it.

Free tutorials can be a real mixed bag. You're right that a lot of them are just someone typing for hours with no explanation of WHY they're doing what they're doing. The thing is, the good ones do exist but you gotta sort through a TON of junk to find them. Udemy courses at least have a structure and someone who actually plans out the lessons, so it makes a big DIFFERENCE. Still, even on Udemy you gotta read the reviews first or you'll end up with the same problem.
