Failed my Excel test for a job I really wanted, and one weird column was the reason
I applied for an analyst job at a logistics company in Fort Wayne last week and made it to a 45 minute Excel test on Tuesday. Everything was fine until they gave me a sheet with 8,000 rows of shipping data and asked me to sum by region. I typed the formulas by hand for about 10 minutes, then realized the region column had trailing spaces on roughly 300 rows, so half my totals were off. I didn't know about the TRIM function until a friend showed me after the fact. The recruiter said they'd call either way but it's been 6 days, has anyone else bombed a skills test over something this small?
