Decided to take a free online Excel course from a community college last fall
I figured it would just be basic formulas and maybe some formatting tips, but I ended up learning about pivot tables and macros that actually saved me about 3 hours a week at work. Has anyone else taken a cheap or free course that ended up being way more useful than you expected?

i actually just read something the other day about how community colleges are starting to offer these really practical short courses because employers kept complaining that people had degrees but couldn't do basic stuff like vlookups. it makes me wonder if the whole certification system is shifting. i mean my sister took a six week project management course online for like 50 bucks and now she runs the whole scheduling for a construction company. it wasn't even from a fancy school, just a local tech college that recorded their lectures during covid and left them up. so yeah i bet that excel course was a steal.

Yeah the whole thing feels like it's shifting fast. Kinda wild how a cheap online course can change everything.

Man I see that all the time at my shop too. Someone takes a quick online course on basic accounting or inventory management and suddenly they're running circles around guys with business degrees. Just make sure you actually practice what you learn right away, or it'll fade faster than a youtube tutorial you watched three months ago.
