A retired teacher's question made me rethink my whole resume

Last month I was helping a neighbor in Cleveland sort her late husband's files and she asked me what I actually do at work. I gave her my usual line about project coordination and she just laughed, then said 'but what do you make or fix or change for someone?' That hit me harder than any job review. I went home and rewrote my resume to lead with outcomes like 'cut weekly reporting time by 8 hours' instead of duties. Has anyone else had a simple question from a non-work person expose how vague your job title really is?
