Check the material you're working with too. I've seen people use cheap plastic wrap that melts from just the steam off a hot bowl. The thicker stuff from the restaurant supply store holds up way better. Even then, don't let it touch the food directly if you can help it.

Betty's right about the thick stuff, but even that can leach into fatty foods.
