Tried using cold water in my sourdough starter and it flat out refused to rise

I usually do all my baking with room temp water, but last Tuesday I was in a rush and just used cold tap water from my Boston apartment. My starter didn't budge for 12 hours and I ended up tossing a whole batch of dough. Anyone else have their starter get super picky about water temp like that?

Cold water's fine, your starter just needs more patience.

Totally feel you on this one. Patience is honestly the hardest part of the whole sourdough game.
