My stand mixer walked across the counter for 3 months and a $2 silicone mat fixed it
Every time I made a stiff dough the thing would creep 4 inches toward the edge and I just kept chasing it back, which is ridiculous in hindsight. I finally put a cheap silicone baking mat under it and it has not moved once since last Tuesday. Has anyone else had a mixer do the walk, and did you solve it some other way?
I saw a video from a guy who restores old Hobart mixers and he said the walk is just vibration from the motor and the dough hook fighting each other. He puts a damp towel under his and swears it never moves. My mom used those rubbery shelf liner squares cut to size under hers for like 20 years. The silicone mat does the same thing but stays flat and you can wipe it down, so that seems like the better fix. Four inches is a lot of travel though, I would also check that all four feet are sitting level on the counter.
