My sourdough starter's slow revival mirrored my own need for a break this year.

Sometimes the best rise comes from just letting things be for a while.

Honestly that line about a slow revival is so true. Tbh my starter got way more active after I forgot about it in the back of the fridge for a month. Sometimes they just need that long rest to get strong again. It’s like the yeast sorts itself out when you stop trying so hard.

So does this mean we're overthinking starter care in general?

Wait, a month in the fridge seems like forever for a sourdough starter! @the_paul's story shows that even neglect can lead to a better rise, which is wild. It really ties back to the original post about how slowing down helps everything, including us.
