My sourdough starter was sluggish until I tried a different feeding schedule

I was feeding it once a day, but after switching to twice a day for a week, the rise time for my loaves in Chicago's cool kitchen dropped from 8 hours to about 5. Has anyone else had better luck with more frequent feedings?

Mine went the other way, got lazy with too much food. Once a day is the sweet spot for me.

My cat did the exact same thing last year. Cutting back to one meal really turned him around.
