Hit 300 cookies in one Saturday market and my hands quit before I did
Sold at the Riverside farmers market off 3rd Street and moved 312 cookies in six hours, which beat my old record by almost 90. My right wrist was toast by hour four, so I switched to a bigger scoop and it saved me. Funny thing is I still only cleared $180 after booth fees and butter. Anyone else find their body giving out before the demand does?
312 cookies in six hours is wild but the math on that $180 is what's bugging me. At a typical farmers market booth fee of like $40 to $60 plus butter running you maybe $60 to $80 for that many batches, you're looking at closer to $3 to $4 per cookie just to break even, which means either your price per cookie is too low or your recipe is heavy on the good stuff. If you're charging $2 each you're basically working for free. Bumping to $2.50 or $3 a cookie at a spot like Riverside where people already pay for quality would change your whole day without changing your output. The wrist thing is real though, that bigger scoop trick is smart.
