Dropped $85 on a pre made fondant kit for my niece's cake and it cracked the second I touched it
I wanted to save time on a birthday cake last weekend so I bought one of those pre rolled fondant kits from a local shop in Denver instead of making my own marshmallow fondant like usual. That thing was so dry that when I tried to drape it over the buttercream it split right down the side and I had to peel it all off. I ended up scraping the whole cake and starting over at 11 pm with a fresh batch of homemade fondant that cost me about $4 in supplies. The kit is still sitting in my pantry and I'm honestly tempted to toss it. Has anyone found a way to soften up old fondant or should I just never buy the pre made stuff again?
