Digital scales felt like overkill, now I won't bake without one

I fought switching from measuring cups for about 2 years, figured my grandma did fine without one. Then I tried a bread recipe that called for 450g of flour and my loaf came out dense as a brick three times in a row. Once I weighed it out, the crumb turned perfect, anyone else hold out on a tool way longer than you should have?
