Watched the avionics guys at the Anchorage hangar use a $9 label maker on cannon plugs, now I own one

I always figured heat shrink and a sharpie was good enough, but after seeing how fast they traced a fault on a 737 last month I ordered the same label maker. Anyone else switch to printed wire labels, and do they hold up through a full repaint?
