Spent $300 on a used spectrum analyzer off eBay and got burned

Bought a used Anritsu spectrum analyzer from some guy in Florida for $300, figured it was a steal for tuning antennas on the ramp. Got it in the mail two days ago and the screen flickers like crazy then goes black after 10 minutes, completely unusable. Anybody had luck fixing these things yourself or should I just eat the loss and move on?

Can you fix that with a ribbon cable reseat or is it cooked?

Dude, I swear my DIY skills are about 50/50 at best. I once tried to reseat a ribbon cable on an old laptop and ended up bending half the pins. It looked like a tiny metal porcupine had a bad hair day. If it's just a loose connection, you might get lucky, but if the board is actually fried, you're probably better off just buying a new one. Have you tried giving it a good whack yet? That's usually my first step before admitting defeat.
