PSA: That $120 'universal' coax crimper from the tool truck is a complete waste of money and doesn't fit half the connectors in our shop.
I had to buy the proper AMP-specific tool anyway, so now I'm just out the cash and have a shiny paperweight, anyone have a good source for the real deal that won't break the bank?

That tool truck guy must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Yeah I actually saw a review the other day from a mechanic who bought one of those universal sets and it broke on the second use. I mean it's one thing to get ripped off by the tool truck guy but it's another to have a tool fail when you're under a car. Idk maybe it's just me but I'd rather pay a bit more for something that's actually built to last instead of some gimmicky thing. The tool truck markup is insane but at least you can usually warranty their stuff. These cheaper universal ones you're basically throwing money away when they snap.

Wait, is it actually a universal tool or just branded that way? Most of those only work with a few common connector types, not the weird proprietary ones. You basically confirmed the fine print with your wallet.
