Boss said skip the connector pin test on the CRJ, and cost us 9 hours in Boise
Pulled a whole belly panel at 2am in Boise chasing a flap disagree because a week ago someone signed off a pin that was backing out of the cannon plug, and I keep telling the new guys the 5 minute wiggle test is never the thing to skip, so what are your go-to quick checks that save you from a callback?
Nine hours in Boise sounds about right for a backing out pin, but the wiggle test alone won't catch it. A pin can feel tight and still be walking out of the back of the plug where you can't feel it, so you have to pull the boot back and look at the wire side, not just push on the front. The real save is a connector mate check after any work in that zone, even a quick one, because a pin that backs out on its own usually means the retainer clip is bent or the crimp is sitting too far back in the shell. Also grab the wire about two inches behind the plug and give it a gentle tug, that's the one that catches the ones that pass the wiggle.
