Warning: I heard a service guy in Phoenix say extended warranties are just prepaid repairs, and it made me rethink my plan
I was at a Firestone in Phoenix getting an oil change last Tuesday and overheard a guy telling the customer that his $2,800 extended plan was really just him paying upfront for stuff that might never break. That stuck with me, so I went home and added up what I paid over 4 years on my last car versus what I actually claimed, and it was $1,100 more than the repairs cost. Now I am wondering if I should drop the plan on my truck and just bank that money every month instead. Has anyone here crunched those numbers for their own ride and come out ahead either way?
