Talked to a mechanic about extended warranties and flipped my view

I was dead set against extended warranties until my buddy Chuck who runs a local shop told me he sees people drop $4k on transmission replacements all the time. Said for what I'd pay in five years of premiums, one major repair covers it. Has anyone actually had a warranty pay out without a fight?

Honestly I was totally against warranties before too, thought they were just a money grab. But after hearing stories like Chuck's it made me realize how one bad repair can really wipe you out. This kind of stuff definitely makes you rethink the whole thing for sure.

Chuck's right, my cousin's warranty paid out $3,600 on a blown engine no questions asked.
