Paid $2,800 for a warranty that covered nothing on my 2014 truck

Last March I got a call about extending my factory warranty on my F-150. The guy was smooth, said it covered everything except wear items. I was dumb and paid $2,800 for 3 years. Last week my AC compressor went out, that's a $1,200 fix. Called them up and they said it's a 'sealed component' that's not covered because of a clause about refrigerant systems. I read the fine print later, it was right there but tiny. Felt like I flushed the cash straight down a drain in Phoenix. Now I'm wondering if anyone here actually got a third-party warranty to pay out for something real, or am I just the sucker of the month?
