My mechanic at Jim's Auto in Tulsa talked me out of buying the extended warranty

I was about to drop $1,800 on a 7 year extended warranty for my 2019 Honda Accord. The finance guy was pushing it hard. Then my regular mechanic Jim pulled me aside and said those warranties are a scam on Hondas, they barely ever pay out for anything. He showed me the fine print from one of his customers claims. Only covers like 3 specific parts. Saved me almost two grand right there. Has anyone else had a mechanic talk them out of warranty coverage?

Yeah that "only covers 3 specific parts" thing is pretty accurate actually. I mean those extended warranties are mostly profit for the dealer, they word the contracts so tight that normal wear stuff and common failures never get covered anyway. Good on Jim for looking out for you though, not many mechanics would turn down that kind of work.
