Made it 8 years before realizing my extended warranty was a total ripoff

I bought a 2014 Ford Focus from a dealer in Decatur back in 2016 and they pushed a $2,400 extended warranty on me. I just kept paying for it every month without thinking, you know? Then last month my transmission needed a $1,200 fix and they denied the claim because of some fine print about "normal wear and tear." Has anyone else had an extended warranty that just felt like throwing money into a hole?

$2,400 for a warranty that denies a transmission claim on a Focus, which is basically famous for having junk transmissions? That's some next level irony right there. I'd be demanding a refund just on principal for how dumb that is.

and honestly, I used to be one of those people who swore by extended warranties because my dad always bought them and said they were worth it. I had this whole thing about how you'd be stupid not to get one especially on a used car. But after reading this and seeing how many people get burned with fine print like "normal wear and tear" on stuff that's clearly a mechanical failure, I completely changed my mind. It's like they design these contracts specifically to deny you when you actually need it, and that $2,400 could have gone toward a real fix or a down payment on a better car. Now I'm just mad for you and everyone else who got tricked into thinking they were covered.
