Hit 100k miles on my truck and my extended warranty actually paid off big time
My 2015 F-150 just rolled past 100k miles last week. I was always told those extended warranties are a scam but I had a major transmission issue at 98k. The warranty covered $3,200 of the $4k repair bill. Still cost me $800 out of pocket but way less than the full price. Anyone else actually get good use out of their warranty at high mileage?

Man I've heard the same thing from people, that extended warranties are just a way to get your money. But I got a buddy who's a mechanic and he says it really depends on the company and the plan. He told me about one of his customers who had a 2014 Silverado and the warranty covered a whole engine rebuild around 120k miles. Saved them like five grand. So I guess sometimes they actually work out. Your case with the transmission is pretty solid proof too.

Exactly @phoenix_singh, the real trick is reading every single line of fine print before you sign anything.
