Extended warranty from the dealer is a total scam, here's what I did instead
I bought a used 2018 Honda Civic last year and the dealer pushed their extended warranty hard for $2,400. Everyone online says you gotta get it for peace of mind but I just couldn't swallow that cost. Instead I found a third party company called Omega Auto Care that offered the same coverage for $1,100 after I read the fine print on both. My alternator went out 3 months ago and they paid for the repair within 5 days, no hassle. Has anyone else tried going with a smaller warranty company and actually got paid out quick?

Whoa, okay, I gotta admit I was totally in the "third party = sketchy" camp before reading this. I always figured you were basically gambling with your money and praying they didn't find some dumb excuse to ghost you. But hearing they actually paid out in 5 days, that's wild and honestly kinda refreshing. I still think the big names have their place, but clearly I was wrong to lump everyone together. Maybe I need to stop listening to the dealer's scare tactics and actually read the fine print myself next time.

Everyone online says you gotta get it for peace of mind" - honestly I think you got lucky lol, most of those third party places fight tooth and nail to deny claims and stall payments till you give up.
