Dealer warranty versus third party, I got burned twice
I bought a 2018 Ford Escape from a used lot in Phoenix and they pushed a third party plan for $2,400. First claim on the AC compressor took 3 weeks and they denied it saying 'pre-existing'. My buddy had the same truck with the Ford backed plan and they covered his transmission in 4 days flat. I ended up paying $1,100 out of pocket anyway. Has anyone else had better luck with one type over the other?

Learned that lesson the hard way myself with a 2015 Silverado. I went with the dealer's own warranty after getting burned by a similar third party outfit, and it was night and day. The dealer's folks actually talked to the service manager directly, got the part approved in like two days, no back and forth. The third party one I had before made me jump through hoops, sent out their own inspector, and still tried to weasel out on a technicality. Your mileage may vary depending on the dealer, but in my experience, paying a little extra for the factory backed plan is worth it just for the peace of mind. That $2,400 third party plan sounds like they made their money back off you real quick, sucks man.
