Traded my digital delay pedal for a real tape echo and I am never going back
I swapped my Boss DD-7 for a beat up old Maestro tape echo at a pawn shop in Reno three weeks ago and the difference is not even close, the tape wobble and warm breakup just do something the clean repeats never could. The digital pedal was cold and perfect in a way that made everything sound like a plug-in, but the tape unit dirties up the signal in a way that actually makes my amp breathe. Has anyone else ditched their digital delay for tape, or am I just chasing a sound that only exists in my head?
