Thrift store in Omaha had a stack of 1970s receivers for $20 each

I stopped by the Salvation Army on 72nd Street last weekend and found five vintage Pioneer receivers sitting on a shelf, all with the original wood cases intact. Grabbed one for $20, brought it home, and it fired up with just a little Deoxit on the knobs. Anyone else have luck finding old audio gear at random thrift spots?

Hit the 72nd Street Salvation Army a couple weeks ago and walked out with nothing but a broken toaster. Did they have these out on the floor or did you ask someone in the back? I feel like half the battle is catching them before the staff puts the good stuff on their own Facebook marketplace page.

Dude, 'five vintage Pioneer receivers sitting on a shelf with the original wood cases intact' - that's basically a fever dream for anyone into old audio. I had a similar score a few months back at a Goodwill in Lincoln, found a Marantz 2230 buried under a pile of dusty VHS tapes for $25. Thing was caked in grime but after a good clean and a little contact cleaner on the switches, it sounds incredible. These thrift stores are gold mines if you're willing to dig a little, right?
