The tracking force tool on my dad 70s turntable was off by 2 grams
I finally got around to digitizing my dad old vinyl collection and bought a cheap digital scale off eBay for 12 bucks. Turned out the counterweight on his Pioneer PL-12D was reading 3.5 grams but it was actually pushing 5.5 grams. I found that stat in a forum post from 2019 and double checked it with the scale. Has anyone else found a big difference between what the dial says and what the stylus actually feels?

Wait, isn't that table known for running light, not heavy?

Had a buddy who bought one of those tables last summer, said it played perfect for about three months. Then it started grabbing weird on softer shots, like the cloth was almost too clean or something. He asked @theawest about it on another thread and Red tried to help him adjust the humidity in his room. Ended up selling it at a loss cause he couldn't get the speed right.
