Pro tip: the old timer at the Roseville flea market was right about cleaning CRT glass with coffee filters
I grabbed a $10 Sony Trinitron at the Roseville flea market and a guy selling VHS tapes next to me told me to skip paper towels and use a damp coffee filter instead. I figured he was messing with me, but I tried it on a 13 inch set with a wicked smudge on the corner and it came off clean with no little scratches in the anti glare coat. Cost me about $3 for a box of 200 filters at the dollar store. Anyone else got a weird one like this for cleaning tube glass?
Lol I've been scrubbing tube glass with whatever rag is closest like a caveman for years, so this is a nice upgrade. My dumb trick is using the sticky side of a lint roller on the vents when I'm too lazy to pull the back off. Learned that after I blew a puff of air into a set and a dust cloud came right back out at my face. The coffee filter thing makes sense though, less lint and no scratchy edges. Gonna raid my kitchen for a box before my next pickup.
