My uncle swore by lighter fluid on old volume knobs, and he was dead wrong
When the volume knob on my 1978 Marantz got scratchy, my uncle told me to spray lighter fluid in it and work it back and forth. One month later the knob was frozen solid and a repair guy in Denver charged me $85 to tell me the fluid ate the carbon track. Now I use DeoxIT D5 like everyone else, so what do you all reach for on scratchy pots?

Lighter fluid works fine if you let it dry out first.
