My old Minolta SR-T 101 vs my friend's digital mirrorless - film still wins for feel

I was shooting downtown Portland last weekend with my buddy who swears by his Sony mirrorless. He bragged about his auto-exposure and image stabilization for like 20 minutes straight. Then I handed him my Minolta SR-T 101 with the 50mm f/1.4 lens and told him to take one shot manually. He spent a full 2 minutes just trying to meter and focus, but when he saw the final print from the lab he went quiet. The grain, the color depth, the way the highlights roll off - it's just DIFFERENT on film. Has anyone else had a digital convert try analog and actually see the light?

Took my little cousin out with my Pentax K1000 last spring, he is all about his Canon R6 and wouldn't stop talking about how much faster everything is. After he shot a roll and got the scans back he literally ordered a used film body that same week.

That Portland light hits DIFFERENT on film too, especially the overcast days where digital flattens everything out. I shot the Hawthorne bridge at golden hour with my Nikon FM2 and the color transitions were just so smooth, my friend with a Fuji couldn't stop staring at the prints. @jennifer_mitchell53 saw the same reaction with her cousin - it's like film forces you to slow down and actually SEE the shot instead of just spraying and praying.
