Found out my CRT's flyback can hold a charge for weeks, nearly grabbed it with both hands
I was reading a post on a repair forum and a tech named Dale in Ohio said a flyback transformer can keep around 25,000 volts for weeks after unplugging, even if the set has been off for a while. I had just pulled the back off my old Trinitron to clean it and was about to reach in there like it was a toaster. Now I use a screwdriver with a ground wire to discharge it first, every single time. Anyone else get scared straight by a close call like this, or am I the only one who almost learned the hard way?
