The neighbor who asked if my air fryer could 'smell the roast'

Last Sunday my neighbor Bob knocked on my door while I had chicken thighs going at 380. He stared at the machine and seriously asked if it could 'smell the roast' and adjust itself. I laughed and said no, it just blows hot air in a circle. He looked so disappointed, like I'd told him Santa wasn't real. He told me his old oven timer always burned his pork chops and he figured futuristic gadgets must be smarter than him. Anyone else get funny questions from folks who think these things are basically robots?

Bob's got a point, a machine that adjusts itself would make way better pork chops than most people.
