That 10 minute preheat trick for frozen chicken wings changed everything

I kept getting soggy wings no matter what temp I used, tried 380 for 18 minutes like every recipe says and they were still rubbery. Then I saw a comment on some random blog about preheating the air fryer for a full 10 minutes before putting anything in. Did that last night with 12 frozen wings at 400 for 20 minutes and they came out crispy as heck. Has anyone else tried letting their basket sit empty for that long before cooking?

Preheating definitely helps but 10 minutes seems excessive, most air fryers hit temp in 3-4 minutes. Doing the empty basket for that long might just burn off any leftover oil or whatever from last use. Try shaking the basket halfway through next time, stops them from steaming in their own juices.

Gotta disagree a bit here. My air fryer's manual actually says to preheat for 5-7 minutes empty or it won't cook evenly on the first batch. Longer preheat just seems to give a better sear on things like chicken wings or frozen fries right from the start... maybe different models just handle it differently.
