Serious question about preheating chicken wings...
I tried frozen wings straight in the basket at 380 for 25 minutes last night and they came out perfect and crispy, but my buddy swears you have to preheat for 5 minutes or the texture is off. What's the real difference, has anyone done a side by side?

Man I literally did this exact test two weeks ago with a bag of Kirkland wings. I did one basket preheated for 5 minutes at 380 and one basket cold start at the same temp for 25 minutes. Honestly the preheated ones had a slightly crunchier skin on the flat pieces but the drumettes were basically identical. Ngl though the difference was so small that I just skip preheating now cause it saves time and electricity.

Preheated flats were crunchier for me too @oliver719, but not enough to go back.
