Serious question about air fryer liners after my bacon disaster this morning

I've been using those paper liners for months with no issue, but this morning I made bacon at 400°F and the liner completely curled up and caught fire. The smoke detector went off and my kids were screaming, it was a mess. The difference was I usually cook at 360°F, but I wanted crispier bacon and pushed it too hot. Has anyone else had this happen with specific temps or bacon brands?

Honestly, you gotta watch the temp with those liners. I found out the hard way too - anything over 375F and they start curling up and burning. The bacon grease pools in the folds and that's when you get the fire. Just stop using liners altogether for bacon, put it straight on the basket. Works way better and you don't risk burning your house down.

My first air fryer liner fire happened at like 2am when I was making bacon for a late night snack. I thought I was being smart by using the perforated parchment paper, but I set the temp to 400F and walked away for a minute. Came back to literal flames shooting out the back of the thing, smoke alarms going off, and my cat losing his mind under the couch. Now I'm team no liner all the way too, just put the bacon right on the basket and it comes out way crispier without the drama. Plus I don't have to explain to my neighbors why the fire department is at my place at 2 in the morning over some bacon.

Wait did you guys see that one article about how the parchment paper companies actually warn against using their stuff in air fryers? I swear I read somewhere that most of those liners aren't even tested for temperatures over 400F, so when you crank it up for bacon you're basically asking for trouble. My buddy at work tried using a silicone liner once and it melted right onto his basket, took him an hour to scrape it off. I still use liners for stuff like chicken wings or veggies at lower temps, but for bacon I just toss it directly in the basket now too. The cleanup is a pain but at least my apartment doesn't smell like a fire station afterward.
