Realized I was crowding the basket after 6 months of soggy fries

Packed it too full every time until I saw a single layer of fries come out perfectly crisp in a friend's air fryer last night, anyone else make that mistake for way too long?

Could the basket being overloaded have been trapping steam and making everything sweat?

Yeah "trapping steam" is exactly it. I did the same thing for months.
