PSA: Forgot to add oil to my air fryer chicken and it was a game changer
Everyone says you need a light oil coat for crispy chicken in the air fryer. I accidentally skipped it last week and the skin got way crispier without being greasy. It tasted more like real roasted chicken to me. I know it goes against all the tips online, but try it once. You might not go back to oily versions.

That "game changer" might depend on your air fryer model.

Mine too, honestly. I've found it works best with chicken thighs or drumsticks, the ones with the skin still on. If the skin is wet, it just steams and gets gross. Pat it bone dry with paper towels, then salt it well. The skin renders its own fat and crisps up like it would in a real oven.

Bone dry with paper towels? Come on. I just toss mine in straight from the package. Skin gets fine. Maybe not perfect but it's chicken. Feels like people make this way more complicated than it needs to be. The machine does most of the work anyway.
