My air fryer chicken disaster at the family picnic last Saturday
I tried making 2 pounds of wings for my cousin's picnic in Riverside, following a recipe that said 20 minutes at 400. They came out looking perfect but were somehow still raw near the bone. I had to toss the whole batch and order pizza, which was super embarrassing. Has anyone else had this happen with bigger pieces of meat, and what temp/time actually works?

Was the chicken frozen or fresh when you started? That makes a huge difference. @abby189 is totally right about the thermometer, it's the only way to know for sure. For whole wings, I always have to go way longer, like 380 for at least 35 minutes, and I flip them a couple times. Those recipe times are usually for tiny pieces or just the wing flats. It's so annoying but now I just add 15 extra minutes to whatever I read.

Ugh, did you check the internal temp with a meat thermometer? I had the SAME thing happen with some drumsticks. Those recipe times are almost never right for frozen or big pieces. I have to do mine at 380 for like 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway, and then I always check the temp. It has to hit 165 in the thickest part. Now I just plan for it to take way longer than the box says.
