Warning: my 2 inch lift made my steering wander worse, not better

I put a 2 inch spacer lift on my 2013 Tacoma last month and the steering got loose and floaty on the highway, way worse than stock. Turned out I needed an alignment and a set of caster shims, which nobody at the parts counter mentioned. Anyone else run into the wander after a small lift, and did caster correction actually fix it for you?
