The hose clamp trick that saved my shackle pin after 2 hours of wrestling
Stripped the threads on a 3/4 inch shackle pin doing a recovery near Moab last Saturday. Tried vice grips, hammering a socket on, even heating it with a torch, nothing grabbed. Then a buddy said to clamp a hose clamp tight around the pin and use it as a wrench handle, worked on the first turn. Has anyone else got weird field fixes like this that beat actual tools?

Love that you turned a bent piece of metal into a better tool than your whole recovery kit. Next time just zip-tie a rock to it and call it a day.
