Switched to synthetic grease for my front axle u-joints 3 months ago
I used to run standard moly grease in my Tacoma's front axle u-joints and had to repack them every 3500 miles or they'd start squeaking. After a trip to the Rubicon trail last fall where I killed a u-joint on day two, I switched to Valvoline Palladium synthetic grease. It's been 3 months of heavy wheeling and daily driving in Colorado and they're still quiet and smooth. Anybody else run synthetics in their steering components and notice a difference?

My buddy ran the same standard moly stuff in his Jeep for years and was always doing u-joints. He switched to synthetic about a year ago and said it was night and day. He drove the whole Mojave road last spring and his front axle joints still weren't making any noise after that trip. He used to budget for a new set of u-joints every season and now he hasn't touched them. He's not one to hype products either, so I figured it was worth trying myself.
