Serious question, why did I waste 8 months messing with cheap coil spacers when $340 of proper springs rode this smooth
Pulled the old spacers off my WJ in the driveway Saturday and dropped in a set of OME coils and new shocks, and the ride difference on the washboard road out to my hunting spot is not even close. With the spacers every bump rattled my teeth and the front end wandered at 60 on the highway, but now it just eats the chop and tracks straight. I spent 8 months and probably $180 on spacer junk before admitting I should have just bought the springs once. Anyone else run spacers first and kick themselves later, or did some of you actually get a decent ride out of them?
The math nobody runs is that spacers don't just ride worse, they change how the spring rate works against the shocks you still have, so you end up chasing your tail replacing parts that were fine. Better to save that $180 and put it toward the coils once instead of buying the same lesson twice.
