Leaf springs vs coils for my FJ80 build... coils won by a mile

Spent 6 months running OME heavy leafs on my 97 Land Cruiser and finally swapped to a 3-link coil setup last weekend. The leaves rode like a lumber wagon on washboard roads near Moab, I had to slow down to 15mph just to keep my fillings. Coils soak up those same bumps at 35mph with no drama. Flex is night and day too, I gained 4 inches of droop over the old setup. If you are building a rig for highway and trails, skip the leaf spring debate and go straight to coils. Has anyone else made this switch and regretted the extra fab work?

Is it weird how we all just accept some things as "how it's supposed to be" until we finally try the better way? I see this with my own hobbies too, like how long I fought with crappy entry level tools before spending real money on a decent welder. The whole "leaf springs are reliable" thing is just people justifying not wanting to do the fab work lol. Once you feel those coils flex on a rocky ledge you can't unfeel it.

And here I am thinking leaf springs get way too much hate. I’ve been running a custom Deaver pack on my 80 for years and it rides better on washboard than my buddy’s coils at half the cost and with zero bushings or joints to ever replace.
