I finally got talked into a solid front axle swap

Overheard a guy at the local off-road meet in Flagstaff last month saying coil springs are always better than leaf springs for any build. I've been running my IFS Toyota for 5 years now and it works fine for what I do, which is mostly fire roads and light rock crawling. Swapping in a solid Dana 44 from an old Ford cost me about $1,200 and two weekends of welding, but it's not this magic upgrade everyone makes it out to be. Has anyone else stuck with their IFS and regretted not going solid axle sooner?

Read a forum post saying leaf springs rode great if you take the time to dial in the shocks.

Wait until he tries wheeling a leaf sprung rig on washboard roads, he'll be begging for his coils back in about 20 miles.
