I finally found out why my 33s rub on full flex and it was a dumb 1 inch difference
Last weekend I was measuring my bump stops in the driveway because my 33s keep chewing up the front fender flares on the trail. I always figured my 3 inch lift kit gave me 3 inches, but I put a tape on the frame and it was only sitting at 2 inches up front thanks to the heavy winch bumper. Turns out the kit specs assume stock bumpers, and nobody at the shop mentioned that when I bought it in March. Now I'm looking at either a 1 inch spacer or just trimming the fender. Has anyone else run into this with a winch setup, and did you go spacer or trim?
Trim it. Spacers just push the problem down the road and mess with your spring rate. My buddy ran a 1 inch spacer on his JK with a winch and it still rubbed, just in a different spot. Grab a sawzall and cut the fender back an inch, way cheaper and you get real clearance. Plus you stop worrying about that sag every time you load up the front.
