Hot take: I thought a cheap winch was fine until I needed it in a real spot
Spent about $350 on a no-name 10,000lb winch to save cash. It burned out halfway through pulling my truck out of a muddy wash near Sedona, leaving me stuck for hours. Anyone have a reliable brand they swear by for under a grand?

Burned out halfway through" is my life story, just ask my last gym membership. I've had good luck with my Warn EVO, got it on sale for just over $800.

My buddy picked up a Warn EVO a couple years back for the same deal, around $800. He let it sit in his garage for six months before he even bolted it on, but once he did, it pulled his truck out of a mud hole twice already without a hiccup. Almost makes me wonder if the real win is paying half price for a tool you'll only need half the time.

Sounds like a win to me, getting a solid winch for that price. Maybe the burnout just means you picked the wrong hobby last time. Ever tried something that actually holds your interest?
