Hit 500 miles on my trail rig last weekend and it shocked me
I picked up a beat up 1990 Toyota pickup about two years ago for $1,800. Built it myself with a solid axle swap and 33 inch tires, and last weekend I passed 500 off road miles on the same front axle. I honestly thought I would have snapped something by now with how hard I push it through the rocks near Moab. Has anyone else had a cheap build surprise them with how tough it actually turned out?

My 87 Ford Ranger with a 4 inch lift and 31s is at 600 miles now. Bought it for $1,200 with a blown head gasket, patched it up and it just keeps going. I bash it through creek beds in Colorado and the only thing that broke was a cheap shock mount I welded back on with a coat hanger. Funny how the junk that should snap just laughs at you.

Cheap stuff that gets beat on tends to survive, kind of like that old backpack you can't kill.
