Hit 2,000 miles on my DIY Tacoma build this weekend

I finally crossed 2,000 miles on my 2005 Tacoma that I built out myself from the frame up. It took me around 14 months to get it road worthy, doing welding, suspension, and the engine swap in my driveway. The number kind of shocked me because I kept waiting for something major to break or fall off. So far the worst thing has been a loose U-bolt on the rear axle that I caught before it caused real trouble. For a truck that started as a rusted shell from a farm near Boise, I'm honestly impressed it's held together this well. Has anyone else tracked their post build mileage and been surprised by the result?

Did you check the torque on the leaf spring bolts too? Those are almost always loose after a few hundred miles, especially on farm trucks. Took my buddy's whole axle twisting from that.

Right on, that's awesome. 2,000 miles on a full frame-up is pretty legit. I've got a buddy who did a similar thing with an old Jeep and he's always paranoid about the rear axle stuff too, it's wild how much can go wrong back there.

Man I used to think rear axles were pretty simple, but you guys proved me wrong.
