Air locker vs limited slip, picked the locker for my Tacoma
Been going back and forth on this for like two months now, finally pulled the trigger last weekend. The choice was between an ARB air locker and a Detroit TrueTrac limited slip for the rear of my 03 Tacoma. I went with the air locker because I do a lot of rocky trail work out near Moab and I figured the ability to fully lock up when I need it beats the constant partial grip of the LSD. Install took me and a buddy a full Saturday in his shop, the compressor mounting behind the tail light was the biggest pain honestly. First real test was yesterday on a muddy incline that used to spin me out every time, locked it and crawled right up without even needing the front axle. Still kinda wonder if the TrueTrac would have been less to maintain long term, the compressor lines make me a bit nervous on tight trails. Anyone else run an air locker and had issues with the fittings getting snagged or leaking after a few hard seasons?
