Tried painting my kitchen cabinets with that fancy chalk paint and it peeled off in 2 weeks

I learned the hard way that you really need to sand and prime first or that stuff won't stick at all, has anyone else had better luck with a different brand?

I used to be one of those people who thought skipping prep work was fine because the paint companies make it sound so easy. But after my own cabinet nightmare with a different brand bubbling up after a month, I finally tried sanding and using a bonding primer underneath. Now I swear by that extra step even though it takes forever. What brand did you use? I'm curious if it's the paint itself or just the whole prep thing that matters more.

Yeah but were you using a water-based bonding primer or oil-based? I swear the only thing that actually stuck to my old laminate cabinets was the oil-based stuff, water-based primer just peeled right off even with sanding. Just curious what made the difference for the long haul.
